3 ways to stay hydrated when the air is dry
It’s that time of year again. It has become officially too cold to keep the windows open and we are left with that dry, indoor heat. Whether it’s a radiator or a space heater, indoor heat makes me feel like I’m on a Accutane prescription (skincare joke). So what are the best ways to stay hydrated when its nearly impossible to? Here are 3 things that will certainly help.
Use A Humidifier
Humidifier’s add moisture to the air, which make them ideal in the winter. There are several different styles out there on the market and though I cannot recommend one that I find to work the best, I can tell you that it’s important to use distilled water only in your humidifier. This keeps mineral deposits, i.e., “gunk” from building up in your humidifier, so you don’t have to wash it between uses as much.
Drink Your Weight in Water
Drink fluids throughout the day. Water, herbal teas, and eat lots of soup!
Moisturize from Head to Toe
This is the most important tip. Here are some of the best ways to stay moisturized:
Abhyanga (self massage), daily
Body cream as soon as you’re out of the shower
Lip balm
Moisturize your feet before putting your socks on
Keep hands and cuticles hydrated with a salve
Use a body scrub in the shower
Use a face exfoliant or enzyme mask 2-3x a week
Use a hydrating face mist
Use face oil
Hope these are useful tips! Stay hydrated!
