What is Reiki?
Over the last 6 years I have noticed a spike in popularity when it comes to energy work. With everything that is going on in the world around us, we are looking for ways to heal. Though there are many different kinds of energy work, the most commonly known might be Reiki.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying the hands (either hovering above or physically on the person) on the different meridians or chakra points of the body. Reiki is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
When I administer my Reiki sessions, I also incorporate sound, essential oils, crystals, and anything else that is called to me and my work with the person. My clients say my sessions are intensely relaxing, probably best described as as "energy massage". Sessions last roughly 45 minutes.
